The United Methodist Church of Mt. Pleasant
A United Methodist Congregation rooted in the tradition of the Evangelical United Brethren Church
What We Believe:
We believe in the one true, holy, and living God who is infinite in power, wisdom, justice, goodness, and love. We believe that God reveals Himself as the trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, distinct but inseparable, eternally one is essence and power.
We believe that humanity has broken the covenant relationship with our creator God through our sinful nature. We have become estranged from God and stand in need of redemption.
At the heart of the gospel of salvation is God’s incarnation in Jesus of Nazareth. We hold in common with all Christians, a faith in the salvation that is available in and through Jesus Christ.
Because God truly loves us, in spite of our willful sin; God judges us, summons us to repentance, pardons us, receives us, and gives us the hope of eternal life by the grace given to us in Jesus Christ.
We believe that God’s redemptive love is realized in human life by the activity of the Holy Spirit, both in personal experience and in the community of believers.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Word made flesh, the only begotten Son of the Father who suffered and died on the cross. He was buried, rose from the dead and ascended into heaven to be with the Father. He is the eternal Savior and Mediator, who intercedes for us, and by him all will be judged.
We believe that faith In Jesus Christ, as the resurrected Son of God, is the only means by which we are saved.
We believe in the authority of Scripture as the inspired Word of God, received through the Holy Spirit, as the true rule and guide for faith and practice.
